Once a prairie in Southwest Houston, the Tanglewood Neighborhood is now one of the most beautiful and luxurious residential areas in the city. Bordered between Woodway, San Felipe, Chimney Rock, and Sage, this area is known for its grand homes on large maturely wooded lots. Beginning as a grassy plain, Tanglewood was first acquired by Humble Pipeline Company, now Exxon, and sold to the William G. Farrington Company in the mid-1940s. With a total of 750 acres, Farrington developed a residential area that would exemplify what makes the Houston Texas real estate market one of the most diverse and decadent in the country.

Tanglewood first opened its doors to Houstonians in 1949 with 32 lots and seven single story ranch style homes, all containing the latest in urban home technology including air conditioning. Fine development plans also amounted for each lot to have two Oak trees, three Oaks on neighborhood corners, and a large lush golf course on the beautiful nearby Houston Country Club, making Tanglewood one of the greenest and most wooded areas of Houston.
